Good news on the Macc

THE Macclesfield Canal is now open for navigation.
It was a hole that appeared in Lock 11 of the Bosley Flight that caused the stoppage last Wednesday, Keith Gudgin reports.
Hole filled successfully
The delay was caused by having to get equipment and materials to the site, that then allowed work to proceed and the hole to be filled successfully.
It has not been stated if this is only a temporary repair, needing further work during the winter stoppage or if permanent.
Prone to such problems
The Macclesfield is prone to such problems as much of it is constructed on a sandy soil that has caused so many failures in the past.
