NOW that we are shortly to get an ex railway executive as chief executive for Canal & River Trust, one can only hope he is impressed by the work of the people who operate the many restored railway lines, and brings the same forward thinking to the waterways.

WORK has started on the repairs to the collapsing Reeds Bridge on the Slough Arm, that has trapped many narrowboats, but it will not be completed until 14th June.
