When reading the quoted comments by Mr. David Dare I am mindfull of two things.
The boat hire business needs to encourage customers and to state that the canals are poorly maintained and in a poor state generally, would not encourage new business.
I do not know know if the wharfs/marinas where Mr. Dare keeps his craft/business is privately owned or leased from CART but if leased then he may not wish to antagonise his landlord.
If either or both of of these thoughts were to be true then it would be both selfish and shortsighted of him.
But from someone who also operates a canalside business, I definately deplore the current state of the midlands canals despite the excellent work carried out but those bands of true volounteers such as SUCS and BCNS.
