Not tricky, but any complexity depends on what you want from the system.

A simple 12v, 80 - 100w panel (about 4 or 5 amps at most, I reckon) with a charge controller will be very easy to install. That's a low input into a 44oamph bank though. An additional panel or two would be advantageous but that's relative to your usage. If it's a system for just adding to your battery bank after cruising then moored for a day or two, you'd be best off looking at your draw from the battery bank and working out the amps you need, then get the panels to match/ exceed.

If it's just maintain the battery bank without a hook up, a single panel 80-100w should be fine.

Thinking of solar panels on the boat, as they have been very successful at home. Although some suppliers have a fitting service, even those suppliers are encouraging me to DIY.

Anybody had problems or are all the connections as easy as they make out? I have a Vitron inverter/charger, start battery and 4 x 110.
