I AM beginning to wonder if all this committee and boaters' representatives guff is merely a diversion.

AS MANY boaters have suspected all along, this change to a charity for British Waterways is nothing more than a cynical re-branding exercise.

WITH the new 'Trust' getting ever closer, I wondered if I might suggest a modification to what is seemingly going to happen. Why not have volunteers man the desks at the top of 'Ivory Towers'.

PEOPLE in Ivory Towers are happy to tell anyone who is daft enough to listen that the waterways now have as much recreational traffic as the there was commercial traffic in the canals heyday.

I SUSPECT by now the saga of the water shortage on the Oxford will have reached most boaters via one means or another. The suggestions for saving water emanating from the relevant British Waterways region will also have passed into canal folk lore no doubt!
