BWML lose its brokerage service
Friday, 10 August 2012 06:12

THE British Waterways Marinas Ltd (BWML) boat brokerage services have been taken away from the individual marinas in the South and West and given to a specialist company.

Boatshed is now the sole brokerage provider at around half of the BWML marinas.  It is not known if the company will take over the rest of the marina brokerage services, Alan Tilbury reveals.

The marinas

The marinas that will now be under Boatshed are Apsley, Bath, Cowroast, Goytre Wharf, Limehouse Basin, Packet Boat,  Poplar Dock, Portavon and Priory,

We are told that BWML berth holders will have access to a full Boatshed brokerage service at their local marina, with the boats being listed on all its the websites.

Not a dedicated service

Derek Newton, BWML Managing Director tells us that BWML did not have a dedicated brokerage service at these marinas previously, and to give the customers an improved service tendered the opportunity to other companies who have expertise in this area, adding:

"Boatshed was the successful company selected from this process. BWML did not lose anything, gained from a commercial deal and actually improved its customer service provision."
