King's Orchard Marina stops again
Wednesday, 19 September 2012 16:08

WE HAVE lost count of the stops and starts in the building of King's Orchard Marina at Streethay on the Coventry Canal, but once again work has stopped, and Kevin McNiff writes:

The attached is a picture of the marina under construction near Streethay. As you can see there is not a lot going on. In fact bugger all is going on!

Suspended

The official word is that work has been temporarily suspended due to 'utility' issues. Nice bridge though!

When we passed back in June, there was work in progress and plant and machinery in evidence. That has all been cleared away as shown, with weeds growing in the dug out portions and the only water in there is rainwater.

Should reconsider

So the monster 600 marina at Onley on the Oxford Canal should reconsider due to current market forces and stop now before it is too late.

[Perhaps those behind a further 500 berth marina proposed at Redhill at the bottom of the Soar should also reconsider in view of the obvious boating recession—Editor.]
