Trent in flood again
Friday, 06 July 2012 11:48

THE Trent is in flood yet again, with CART issuing warning notices that Cranfleet Flood Lock is closed.

There is no navigation allowed on the upper Trent either above Sawley or below, with yet again moorers being unable to move and Canaltime hirers/sharers unable to take boats out.  (The picture shows a previous flooded Trent at Sawley Flood Lock.)

Particularly bad

With the weather forecast for more rain over the next few days, the situation is unlikely to alter for the foreseeable future.  The forecast for the Derbyshire Pennines is particularly bad, which means that both the Dove and the Derwent, that feeds the Trent, will be in flood.

Moorers are telling us, though it is of course not the fault of Sawley Marina, it is not a good place to moor for boaters wishing to often cruise, as the constant flooding of the Trent, that has been particularly bad this year, prevents any movement.  Any boaters starting a holiday this week-end will be unlucky.
