AFTER stealing a van, the thieves took off the handbrake and pushed it into the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Blackburn yesterday (Thursday).
However, it did not cause any problem for boaters as the waterway is closed anyway, and today the fire service will be removing it from the waterway.
The thieves stole the keys to the vehicle after breaking into a house at 3am in the morning whilst the occupants were asleep, taking a television with them. They then used the van to transport the television and it is believed other stolen items.
