THERE was certainly something different at the Church Minshull Aqueduct Marina Summer Family Fun Day.
For in addition to the more normal boats and stands, including the Shropshire Union Canal Society, who were promoting their campaign to help complete the restoration of the Montgomery Canal, there were various skills being demonstrated.
These including rope making, fender making, boat painting and traditional, decorative boat painting. A group were there demonstrating many crafts including jewellery making, spinning and cabin lace making, with the picture showing Chris Owen-Roberts giving a spinning demonstration.
Went well
Altogether the whole day went very well, and Robert Parton, Director of the Marina exclaimed:
"The Family Day was a complete success with several hundred people coming along and enjoying the fun. The marina business received a number of enquiries throughout the day and everyone, from children to grandparents, had a fantastic day out. We were also very pleased that the event helped raise over £1,200 for our nominated charity "Tanzed" which provides education for children in Tanzania."
