Email: Cyclists—do not mix

It really is about time that the danger of speeding cyclists on the towpaths was thoroughly aired, and it may bring home to British Waterways (though somehow I doubt it) that fast cyclists and pedestrians on a narrow towpath do not mix.

I have seen the specification of a mixed-use path, and though I cannot place it at this time, I know it was a lot wider than a normal towpath.  Perhaps someone will state the legal width.

As a boater I've been pushed aside whilst going round the lock gate beam in Nottingham as a cyclist, I would imagine late for work, came speeding silently past, then hit harder, once again on the Nottingham towpath as an idiot came belting in between two of us walking along the towpath.

The problem is, there is no way of knowing who they are if you should want to press charges against them.  Perhaps this is what BW is relying on.
