I suspect that this unusual situation is a covert saving procedure. Lock restrictions = less passages=less maintenance=less personnel to pay!

I rather enjoyed this from BW on the Waterscape facebook page a couple of days ago - The wet weather has improved our reservoir holdings substantially over the last few weeks. However, the four main reservoirs within the Tring group are not yet full, although visually they may look so. After some experimentation with a cup of tea, I can find no difference between 'full' and 'visually full'. Regards

Maybe if the drought continues, a complete reservoir system full of water could be sold to a strapped for water supplier. Don't laugh, its been done before by BW! The dosh could be used to bolster the flagging pension fund of the chosen ones at the top.

I have just noticed the new headline about the Tring Summit, and I find it indefensible that British Waterways can chain up lock gates on the excuse that there is a shortage of water when the reservoirs are overflowing.
Tom asked what on earth is happening, and I do to. No longer can BW get away with its lame excuses, as Tom had someone there with a camera and shown not only three reservoir obviously full but an overflow with water pouring out. In the past they have said that reservoirs are so much full, giving fancy percentages (Bigus Numero again?) yet photographs have appeared showing they are lying.
Just what is happening?
