THE  boat traffic on the canal seems to me to have been quiet lately. The Shropshire Union Canal Society wound only 220 boats through Cholmondeston lock during the recent Bank Holiday. The norm for this time of year has been nearer 300.

AT NUNEATON last Thursday a rarely spotted British Waterways truck in full view and not hidden in the bushes. Seen on bridge 22.

HAVING survived the severe thuggery, sorry, surgery of a 'little' operation in March, I still feel below average and I haven't been able to undertake as much boating as usual.

A NEW marina is planned for the North Oxford Canal near Barby. The entrance will be between Bridge 77 and the site where the crossing took place of the original line and that could be most interesting.

ONE  is on the visitor mooring above Hillmorton Locks sitting on the bottom and is surrounded by an oil absorbent boom.

AFTER the containment of the winter moorings on the marina and a recent bit of surgery which took a couple of weeks for everything to bed back into place, Thursday's Child is on a shakedown cruise along the Ashby Canal.
