Swans attacked again

SWANS on the Thames are being attacked again by people with air guns, with Swan Support appealing to any boater who may have seen the shooting to come forward by ringing the police.

An adult swan and a cygnet together with a goose have been killed by air gun pellets, Alan Tilbury tells us.

In the night

The shooting was however carried out in the night, it being around 9.30pm when the dead adult swan was discovered, with its body still warm.

From this, and people hearing shooting, it was assumed the swan was killed between 8.30 and 9.30 last Thursday.

Later in the week members of the charity were called out twice—first to a goose that had been shot and then again to a young cygnet shot near Romney Lock.
