Email: Should be compulsory

It is okay Pete Early telling us that there are now notices at tunnel entrances stating we should wear life jackets, but there are lots of things the new health and safety regime tell us we should do, but don't.

The only thing to be absolutely safe when falling off a boat in a tunnel is wearing a life jacket, which I might add, with the exception of the very short Cookley Tunnel on the Staffs & Worcs, I and anyone else on the stern always do, and if the man who fell off in Harecastle had been wearing a life jacket the result could have been vastly different, he now being still alive.

And I don't really see how having a further tunnel light near the stern of the boat, would prevent anyone either tripping or collapsing and falling off.
