Four Avon deaths this year
Zamion Jon Bowyer was seen floating in the river by a passenger on a trip boat, with the man having been missing for five days. A pathologist's report stated there was no evidence of violence and that the man had died of drowning, Alan Tilbury tells us.
A level of alcohol and drugs discovered in the body could however have contributed to his ability to get out of the water, but was not the cause of death. It was stated at the inquest that he was a competent swimmer and swam in the river regularly, which confused his relatives why he should have drowned.
Others
The other people who have drowned in the river at Bath this year were Christopher Taylor, 21, who drowned in January, drowned despite attempts by emergency services called to the scene to resuscitate him
During April the body of Donovan Weale, 42, was pulled out of the water, and was pronounced dead at hospital.
In September, teenager Sammuel Amin became the fourth person to drown in the river this year.
A woman in her 80s was rescued this month from the water, but is currently in hospital recovering.
