Coventy Canal derelict art

I very much agree with David Hymers' sentiments in his column of Thursday 10th, writes David Davis.

I made a trip down the Coventry Canal last November, and it is exactly as he described: the approach to Coventry itself is festooned with derelict art and ‘information boards' covered in graffiti—public money has been spent, but nothing allocated for maintenance, and so ultimately it goes to waste.

No long term care

Of course, this is not something confined to canals—local authorities love spending their budgets on projects such as these, particularly when they can get grant funding—but seldom budget for their long term care.

I'd like to recommend www.fixmystreet.com as a handy website for reporting problems like these. It lets you find and mark the problem on a map, let's you enter any relevant comments, and then is configured to send an email to the right department of the appropriate local authority, saving you the bother of having to look them up.
