Ice walker was drunk

A MAN who walked on the frozen Oxford Canal at Rugby in December had drunk nine pints of lager and five double whisky and cokes.

The ice gave way underneath him and he fell through, his state leaving him unable to clamber out, so he drowned.

Following morning

Roberto Da Silva's body was discovered  by two teenagers the  following morning.

An inquest in Leamington heard how Roberto Da Silva went out with a group of workmates on Friday, 3rd December celebrating a colleague's birthday and his recent pay rise.

Pints and whisky

They visited the Bell & Barge, at Brownsover, where he drank seven pints of lager, and then went to The Bull, in Rugby, where he had two more pints and five double whisky and cokes.

He then attempted to walk home on the ice of the Oxford Canal.
