Tardebigge Flight gates replaced

TARDEBIGGE Lock Flight is at present having five new lock gates installed and the Tardebigge Tunnel drained for a full inspection.
This flight on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal is the largest lock flight in the the country, raising the waterway 220 feet. The picture shows the narrowboatworld boat Bounty ascending the flight.
The 580 yards long Tardebigge Tunnel could reveal its secret when drained as it is supposed to be haunted, containing a secret brick archway below water level leading into a cavern.
All the work will be completed in time for the new season.
