THE film of Peter Scott visiting the old Harborough Basin, at a boat rally, can now be seen on the British Pathé website.

The visit to what is now Union Wharf on the Harborough Arm of the Grand Union Canal was in August 1950, and shows the first ever boat rally held in the old basin.

Inland Waterways Association

In the film there is a clear picture of Peter Scott, son of Captain Robert Scott, the famous Antarctic explorer, on his own boat. He was then the vice president of the Inland Waterways Association, that organised the rally.
