Rescuer had to be rescued

IT WAS no doubt extremely brave of a police officer to leap into Bristol harbour to rescue a man in the water, but both had to be rescued by the fire service.

The officer had been very concerned about the man in the water who seemed to be in difficulty, so jumped in to help, but then was unable to climb out with the man.

Though a rescue boat was launched, the policeman managed to grab a thrown line and pull both of them out of the freezing water, being taken to hospital in view of the temperature.

Both were released.
