Bankside wall collapses

A BANKSIDE wall has collapsed onto the towpath of the Huddersfield Broad Canal.

The towpath is now closed, and will remain so for an estimated three weeks, Mike Fretwell tells us, but there is no stoppage notice on the canal.

Scattering debris

The wall was part of the former James Robinsons Chemicals site, that collapsed, scattering debris over the towpath and into the waterway.

The area is part of a redevelopment by the side of the canal that will include a new pub and a Travelodge which are due to open in early October.
