More development for the Caldon

A MASSIVE £3 millions canalside development is planned for the Caldon Canal in Hanley.

The plan is to develop a link with Hanley's City Waterside development and the waterway, complete with fountains, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Various water features  are planned, and Stoke City Council is at present in contact with three contractors before choosing the developer to carry out the work.which will include new roads and pavements as well as the fountains.

250 homes

The whole scheme of course is to build new homes around the water features, with 250 at present envisaged plus commercial properties.

The existing Victorian pottery works, which was bought by Stoke City Council in 2007, will be converted into apartments and business units, but a new pottery works will be constructed.
