A bit of a bodge

BRIDGE 100 on the Oxford Canal is at last being repaired, but our David Hymers was told by one of the workers that it was 'a bit of a bodge'.

I went under bridge 100 on the Oxford, which has been in a derelict state,  David relates, with holes in the parapet, for as long as I can remember. I think I referred to it in a fairly recent column.

The good news is that it is being repaired; the bad news is that in the words of one of the BW people doing it 'It's a bit of a bodge'. They have demolished the parapets and capped the exposed brickwork with mortar—and that's it! My informant reckoned that they were just making it safe and would probably demolish it later, as it's not listed and seemingly not used.
