What is it?

Work is progressing well at this unnamed mooring just south of Bridge 54 on the Trent and Mersey canal, writes Ralph Freeman.

Personally I quite like these small moorings as I think they are more in keeping with the small scale nature of the narrow canals. Do you class this type of mooring as online, a marina or a wharf though? I haven't a clue.

In this case, however, there is already King's Bromley Wharf and King's Bromley Marina just the other side of Bridge 54, so quite what these new facilities will be called is a mystery. Perhaps that is why there is no sign adjacent to the works to enlighten passing boaters!
