New village for canal arm

PLANS have been published for a new village by the side of the Market Harborough Arm of the Grand Union Canal, that includes a marina.

The development includes 1,000 homes, shops, a school, a pub and an hotel, and would be built on 112 acres of farmland by the waterway, Alan Tilbury tells us.

It includes the seemingly statutory marina, with of course houses built around it. The plans also include a park, playing fields and community centres. A travellers' park and showground are also shown on the plans.

The Market Harborough Arm leaves the Grand Union a the bottom of Foxton Locks, and the plans include the length of waterway bounded by Foxton Village.
