Boat not discovered

THOUGH four days have been spent unearthing part of the Burslem Branch at Middleport in Stoke, the sunken narrowboat has not been found.

Volunteers, including those from the Waterway Recovery Group, have been clearing the route of the former canal, with a view to restoring it from its junction with the Trent & Mersey to the former Burslem Port.

Part of a washwall of the canal was unearthed, but eventually it is hoped the former National Coal Board boat, recently pictured in NbW will be unearthed. It was buried after a breach in the 60's.
