Cube developers go bust

Published: Monday, 29 March 2010

THE company, BuildAbility, developing the waterside Cube in Birmingham went into liquidation on Friday, after it was unable to pay sub contractors.

The Administrators Pricewaterhouse Coopers now in charge of the  Cube development have however told sub-contractors they will still be paid for their work for February, March and through to  completion of the project.

Finish the project

Pricewaterhouse Coopers have urged workers to turn up as normal today, Monday, telling that they are holding talks with stakeholders, intending to finish the project, and not attempting to sell it in its present state.

Announcing the liquidation, a spokesman for BuildAbility confirmed it had not been able to reach an agreement with a bank to fund the Cube to completion.

The development by the side of the waterway contains apartments, offices,  hotel, shops, café bars and a rooftop restaurant.
