Canal search for missing man

AN UNDERWATER search team is searching both the Rother and the Chesterfield Canal for a man missing since Christmas Eve.

Alan Tennant aged 25 left Chesterfield town centre around midnight intending to walk the nine miles home to Clowne, and was last seen on CCTV by Tapton Lock on the canal, Alan Tilbury tells us.

It is officers from the Derbyshire Police Uniformed Task Force that have been searching both the river and canal, that run side by side by the lock, using underwater search cameras

Nor unusual.

It was a private CCTV camera that recorded his figure walking towards the lock, but it is told this was not unusual as he often walked home after a night out in the town, this time refusing a taxi ride by friends.

Alan, who worked at Tesco in Clowne, is 5ft 7ins tall, with a shaven bald head and was wearing a red and black striped shirt, black jeans and black shoes.

His disappearance has shocked his family and friends, who have joined  the police in the search, with posters asking the public to help.
