Trailer to be removed

BRITISH WATERWAYS has taken on itself to remove the dumped trailer from the Caldon Canal that was featured in narrowboatworld.

People are contacting BW after reading of the dumped trailer, but Maintenance Manager Michael Carrington, has pointed out that this has been well investigated, remarking:

"British Waterways made contact with the previous owner, and made arrangements with them to remove the trailer from the canal. Unfortunately this did not take place.

"Again British Waterways have tried to make contact with the owner to ask why the removal hadn't taken place. But to no avail, contact could not be reached.

"Further investigations have now found that the company occupying the land, and owners of the trailer have left the property, and it's up for sale.

"Again further investigations, now with the estate agent, have given us the owner's contact details. We are now in the process of arranging for our own contractors to remove the trailer from the canal embankment, at the cost of the owner, within the next seven working days."

However, we found the trailer was in no way impeding navigation of the waterway.
