Six years to get a water point

WHEN the buildings at Calverly on the Shropshire Union Canal were converted into a maintenance depot and a service block, the water point was removed.

To supply the kitchen with water the solution was to remove the tap on the outside wall and route the inside pipe to the sink,  with boaters losing that water point.

The creation of a service block meant that there was increased traffic stopping but with only one water point which was situated very near the pump-out and as the entrance to the services had been ramped this made it a congested area for hoses etc, and was in our opinion a compromise to safety, Paul Mills tells us.

But after six years the second tap has been reinstated, at the other end of the building, with Paul believes, the situation relieved at least in part.
