Upgrade of Standedge Café
Published: Friday, 08 March 2019
FALLING interest in Standedge Tunnel and its visitor centre has prompted an upgrade to the Waterside Café.
In an effort to get more visitors to the tunnel, the café is getting a £100,000 makeover, Alan Tilbury reports.
Modernise its interior
The aim is to modernise its interior, though its historic stone flooring will remain, as will its outside features, and it will open by the end of March.
The Standedge Visitor Centre, that is at present closed will reopen with a refurbishment of the Thomas Bourne Room, as a wedding venue, including a bar area.
