Mikron celebrates 50 years

NEXT year the Mikron Theatre Company celebrates its 50th year.

Micron1Created in 1972, and named after its founders (Mike Lucas, Sarah Cameron and Ron Legge), Mikron’s idea was to bring the professional theatre to new audiences, particularly along the waterways, Roger Fox tells us.

Cruising the waterways

Cruising the waterways in its narrowboat Tyseley, during the past years the company has performed at many canalside locations, and its long lasting has proved its popularity.

Based at Marsden in the Standedge Visitor Centre, where on the top floor its member rehearse its many and varied productions, so that every summer the four can set out to tour the waterways presenting new and original shows of musical comedies and characters, in addition to playing various instruments.

Altogether the company has performed 50 different shows with over 300 new songs, telling tales in their own inimitable style.

Mikron is now preparing for its 50th year of touring, with its first show 'Hand's on Deck' in March, with the performances running throughout the summer. For details see:
