Surprise, surprise

THE inquest into Rajkaji Lama who drowned in the Thames at Reading was told he had been drinking.

His body was discovered in the water near Sonning Lock in the early hours of Saturday 20th January, Alan Tilbury reports.

Significant amount of alcohol

At the inquest it was told that he had drunk a 'significant amount of alcohol' before being in the river, and was heard shouting for help at around 4am, but drowned and was pronouced dead at the scene.

At the the inquest, Berkshire Coroner, Peter Bedford, told that the man had  earlier sent a text expressing thoughts of jumping into the river, though he then shouted for help.
