Stopping the leak—possibly!

IT WAS four years ago that we first noiced the leak from Barton Turn Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

The water leaks from the full lock causing running water down the towpath under the bridge to the lock, and so is always wet when the lock is being worked, and can be particularly dangerous in winter.

To be repaired

Here is our original photograph taken four years ago. But at last it is to be 'possibly' repaired, though the stoppage notice is a now normal 'Cartism' as Victor calls them.  Here it is— make of it what you will:
