Keeping up the trend

Published: Monday, 30 April 2018

WE SHOULD imagine that most boaters now know of the errors in stoppage notices, and a new one keeps up the trend.

Named 'Cartisms' by Victor, this new one by Canal & River Trust concerns wide beam boats on the Grand Union Canal on the southern end of the Leicester Section, Roger Fox tells us.

Closed to wide beam boats

The notice is that the navigation is closed to wide beam boats between between Bridge 72 at Saddington and Bridge 65 at Debdale Wharf, caused by the collapse of a 'cutting slope'.

But according to the stoppage notice it can't really be closed, as we are told—'Dredging works were completed in 2016. This restriction is no longer in place'.

Work that one out!
