How to cure a leak

"Dump a load of puddle in the cut”—he tells us, which is what has been done to 'cure' the leak just short of Norbury Junction on the Shropshire Union Canal.

In January 2014 in was reported that there were 300 leaks on one waterway alone, so it is anyone's guess how many there are on the whole system, so can we now expect dollops of puddle clay at regular intervals?
