£4,000 worth of tools stolen

THE tool store at Lock 15 on the Grantham Canal suffered another break-in with £5,000 worth of electrical tools stolen.

This is the second time the store has been broken into and tools stolen, and though extra security was installed including CCTV, the thieves smashed the cameras and still broke in.

No insurance

Most of the tools were on hire, and being in such a remote area insurance was not available, so the cost will have to be met by the Heritage Lottery.

Though the police were alerted, two of the cars were damaged by the thieves who sped away in a vehicle with false number plates, and were not caught.
