Still carry your spares

I most certainly agree with your suggestion that boaters don't take so much care of their boats when covered by the 'insurance' of River Canal Rescue.

I was particularly concerned about everything being in good working order before setting off for a cruise, and carried such as a spare water pump and control cables, but realise after the old pump was acting up I used it.  But alas since joining RCR I have just not got around to having a spare anymore.

I realise it is not very sensible, as should it pack up you have the inconvenience of being delayed, and could be especially bad if say a control cable snaps (as they do) whilst in an inaccessible part of the system, then possibly having to wait until the part is sourced.

Better to still carry your spares.
