More pump problems

THIS time it is the pumps supplying the basin at Sheffield on the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation at Tinsley that have given up the ghost once again.

This means Tinsley Flight is closed so there is no access to or from the basin, the reason being that the pumps are 'experiencing technical problems', Keith Gudgin tells us.

As with the past failures of these pumps Canal & River Trust is attempting to source suitable temporary pumps until repairs can be carried out.

Together with leakage, this means that there will be low water levels in the top pound between Victoria Quays and the top lock of the flight.
