Fallen cable closes K&A

A FALLEN power cable closed the Kennet & Avon Canal on Monday, but there was quick action from the power company with it quickly re-opened.

The live cable had fallen over the waterway and towpath between Woodbrough Fields Bridge (122) and  Alton Valley Bridge (123) near Honeystreet, closing both, Keith Gudgin tells us.

But the power company were quick off the mark and had the cable back in place with the navigation open Tuesday morning.
