What happened to the 'Ribble Pidler'?

My husband and I were one of the first to use the new Ribble Link, linking the river to the Lancaster Canal, and well remember the 'Ribble Piddler' as the statue was soon to be called, but this year it has gone.

I have been completely out of touch with the waterway scene for a few years, but looking back see that the oak sculpture cost £21,000, paid for by British Waterways, and wondered what had happened to it.
