A MAN that jumped on to a narrowboat moored at Caversham on the Thames and groped a woman on board has been jailed.

Though Harunrashid Patel even had his young children with him, it did not stop him getting on the boat and groping the shocked woman inside, Alan Tilbury reports.

The jury at Reading Crown Court heard that he mauled her over her clothing, then ran away with his children, but the police recognised him from the woman's description, and he was arrested the following day and charged with one count of sexual assault.

The Reading man was convicted of a single count of sexual assault following a four day trial at Reading Crown Court, jailed for 18 months and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years.
