I see this is the season of Canaltime bashing, so let me show you a picture.
It is a picture of a moored Canaltime with both its ropes all ready to trip someone up across the towpath at King's Bromley on the Trent & Mersey. (The bow rope is tied to the fence.)

I pulled in and had a word with the lady on the stern, but she told me there was nothing else to tie to! Did not know what the mooring pins were for.
This was a long time back though when they had solid fenders, but shows the lack of proper instruction.
