Regarding the piece regarding confusion over the Caen Hill flight and the Crofton flight on the Kennet & Avon Canal.
I have to point out that the water on the summit is pumped all the way from the river Avon at Claverton via the Bradford on Avon pump and all the others up to Wootton Rivers.
There used to be a problem with (I think) Thames Water water going down via Devizes and on to Bath, so all the summit water now comes the other way ie via Claverton, BoA, Semmington, Seend and Caen Hill pumps.
