Progress of HS2

Published: Wednesday, 30 August 2017

I sincerely hope your correspondent Felix Welson was being sarcastic when he claimed that 'progress such as the HS2 is necessary', it's either that or he has his mind firmly stuck in the 20th century.

Here we are almost a fifth of the way into the 20th century and he thinks a 19th century solution is appropriate when we should be investing the billions being poured into a vanity rail project into providing decent broadband access to the whole country thereby negating the need to travel for work so that the railways can be reserved for goods and leisure.

Sorry if this has been a little non waterways related.... but as boaters we should be aware that speed of travel isn't always the proper solution.
