Lock gates on strike!

THE Canal & River Trust tell us that 'due to a gate strike' at a lock on the Wigan Flight, boaters are locked out.

Our Keith Gudgin remarks that perhaps they're fed up with CaRT not looking after them properly and they want better conditions to work in!

Locked out

The affected lock is No 71, but the Flight is closed with boaters 'locked out' from lock 65 to 85 as they are padlocked.

This does not of course affect the junction with the Leigh Branch from the Bridgewater.
