Sunk boat closes Lee Navigation

A BOATER managed to get his boat caught on the cill of Stonebridge Lock (16)  of the Lee Navigation and sunk it.

This occurred on Monday, with the boat still in the lock and the waterway closed until it can be removed, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Boat damage

Canal & River Trust blame the boater telling that the stoppage is caused by 'boat damage'.

Though if there was more information at locks telling of the dangers of being caught on the cill, and to keep boats forward when descending to avoid being sunk, such sinking would not occur.
