Banbury Canal Day will now take place

THOUGH Banbury Canal Day had been cancelled this year owing to planned  building work around its site, it will now go ahead.

It was further extensions to the Castle Quay Shopping Centre that had caused the event to be cancelled, but the work has been delayed so the event can now take place, Alan Tilbury reports.

Organised by Banbury Town Council, a spokesman relates that visitors are guaranteed a variety of stalls, a funfair and water-based action as well as food and it will be combined with Banbury Folk Festival, on its normal day of the first Sunday in October, this year the 1st of the month.

Other activities on the day include entertainment in Spiceball Park and go-karting, with two months to arrange everything, that usually takes nine months, but was prevented by the proposed building work.

The event attracts many boats selling their wares, as can be seen from the above picture.
